What to bring to counseling sessions
When you call to schedule your appointment, a Prototype staff person
will tell you what to bring to your session. As a general rule, we'd
like to see your resume in advance, if time permits. You can send it via
email, fax or regular mail.
Depending on your focus for the session, you might also bring along:
- copies of jobs you have considered, or have applied for
- copies of past cover letters
- lists of jobs you might be interested in
- training options you are considering
- journal entries or notes to yourself about goals, ideas or dreams for
the future
- any specific questions you have about job search or career transition
What are the payment options for services?
We accept cash, check or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover).
Occasionally, we will also create a payment plan with you to divide
payments into smaller pieces. We know it's difficult to find the money
sometimes for career services; but we also know that you need good
career services to help improve your finances. We'll do what we can to
work through that process with you.
Directions to Prototype
By bus:
Prototype is located in a two-story, white building with green awnings at 1071 W. 7th
Street. It is easily accessible by bus. For routes and times, call MTC
at 612-373-3333.
By car:
Our side of West 7th allows you to park without restrictions.
From Highway 94 West
Coming from the west, take the 5th Street exit in St. Paul. At the
bottom of the exit ramp (7th Street), turn right. Head west, away from
downtown St. Paul, for approximately 3 miles. The office is one-half block
past the stoplight at Randolph Avenue, on your right. If you pass the
SuperAmerica gas station, you've gone too far.
From Highway 694 or 36
Coming from the east on Highway 694 or from either the east or west on
Highway 36, merge onto Highway 35E south. Stay with 35E when it turns
into a parkway (45 miles per hour - careful!) and take the Randolph St.
exit. Turn left on Randolph and drive approximately 1 mile to 7th
Street. Turn right on 7th. The office is one-half block past the stoplight at
Randolph Avenue, on your right. If you pass the SuperAmerica gas station,
you've gone too far.
From Highway 35E
Coming from the north, stay with 35E when it turns into a parkway (45
miles per hour - careful!) and take the Randolph St. exit. Turn left on
Randolph and drive approximately 1 mile to West 7th Street. Turn right
on West 7th. The office is one-half block past the stoplight at Randolph
Avenue, on your right. If you pass the SuperAmerica gas station, you've
gone too far.
Coming from the south on 35E, stay with 35E when it turns into a parkway
(45 miles per hour - careful!) and take the Randolph St. exit. Turn
right on Randolph and drive approximately 1 mile to West 7th Street.
Turn right on West 7th. The office is one-half block past the stoplight at
Randolph Avenue, on your right. If you pass the SuperAmerica gas station,

From 494
Coming from either the east or west on 494, take the Highway 5 option.
Stay with Highway 5 past the airport and it will soon become a
commercial / residential street. This is West 7th Street. Stay with West
7th approximately 5 miles, heading east towards downtown St. Paul. The
Prototype office is on your left, approximately one mile past the
stoplight at Otto. If you get to the stoplight at Randolph, you've gone
one-half block too far.
